Eco-friendly Tip of the Week – 7/29/12

Temps are rising and you know what that means: pests! Ants can be annoying. Sure, you can be meticulous about putting things away, but sometimes, you forget, or you miss the crumbs, or others in your household aren’t as concerned about cleaning up after themselves as you are.
I’m not the type of person to pull out a can of Raid. Some people use Borax, which is a big no-no when you have pets and children. Here’s my solution: good ole’ white vinegar.
How does it work?
To my understanding, ants keep coming back because they follow scent trails. The vinegar aids in destroying those scent trails. Plain water is just not enough. Spray windows, doorways, and wipe down any areas frequented by ants. No need for toxic chemicals or products that come in aerosol cans.
It really couldn’t be easier. Let me know how it works for you.
Trying to live more green? Come back next week for another eco-friendly tip!

I’m glad this is working. If they ever come up with something that can get rid of our flies, I would be so grateful. We have tried everything. It is horrible sometimes out here!
