Laptop Lunches – Portion Control & Green!
|March 18, 2012||Filed under Reviews|
Pack your lunch lately? Why not? Last I checked, the cafe for the building we share with the local community college charged $5.50 for a salad. Considering you can sometimes buy 2 bags of of salad for $5 or buy a big box of organic mixed greens (my fave) for that price, it’s hard to pay what they’re charging at the cafe.
Through his show, Jamie Oliver showed us why we should be concerned with what our kids are fed at school. Have you heard of pink slime? You may want to pay closer attention because it was found in foods purchased for the National School Lunch Program. Even if the food is free, if they are serving things that aren’t fit for human consumption, it’s a no-brainer. I’d rather pack my child’s lunch until I am convinced that schools are up to standard.
What’s great about Laptop Lunches is that you can easily figure out your portions without measuring so you can get the ultimately balanced meal. You also don’t have to worry about a fork or spoon floating around because their sets come with both! It’s compact and each component comes with a lid. No spills. No mess. It does make for more components to keep track of and clean and you may want more than one, but hey, everything has its pros and cons.
I haven’t had a chance to make Kimbap yet, but when I do, this bento box by Obentec will be the best thing to safely transport them to our favorite picnic locale. Hurry up, warm weather! Mama’s got cabin fever!
If you need some meal’spiration, or just don’t want to eat last night’s leftovers, the user guide that’s included will give you some ideas to change things up a little bit.
