Green Earth Frying Pan with Ceramic Non-Stick Coating
| January 29, 2012 | Posted by Roxy under Giveaways, Reviews |

We go through a ton of pans. My fiance’s grandfather buys up whatever he can at yard sales (we’re still trying to get him to understand that people want to get rid of them FOR A REASON) and it’s also frustrating because he also doesn’t understand that cutting meat in a pan RUINS IT. I’m actually surprised that he hasn’t managed to destroy my Pampered Chef Skillet, which has been my prized possession since I bought it.
The thing that has me concerned is my food leeching chemicals from anodized cookware. I have some stainless steel cookware, which is significantly lighter, though it does nothing for me without using large amounts of oil.
Ceramic cookware, on the other hand, retains heat, you don’t have to worry about scratches. It also doesn’t emit any harmful fumes, which is a huge bonus for us eco-friendly and health-conscious types.
It is PTFE and PFOA FREE. What does this mean?
Conventional non-stick cookware is achieved through a coating of PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), a synthetic substance that has waxy properties. At very high temperatures, PTFE begins to decompose and release fumes which are documented to be lethal to birds and small pets, and which can be harmful to humans. In addition, traditional pans incorporating PTFE are manufactured with the aid of PFOA (PerFluoroOctanoic Acid), which the EPA has classified as a ‘persistent pollutant of the environment’. With the Green Earth Pan’s ecozeri technology, even under high temperatures, no harmful toxic fumes are ever released into the environment.
Other bonuses:
The handle is oven safe, so you can easily sear your meat and finish it in the oven without having to use another dish (or wrapping the handle in foil). I’ve cooked eggs, noodles, potatoes and all kinds of stuff in it so far and it has held up just fine.
It’s supposed to be dishwasher safe, but if you want to take good care of your cookware, keep them OUT of the dishwasher! Trust me on this one.
The bummer? Lids are sold separately.
Disclosure: Ozeri provided the 8″ Green Earth Pan in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Do you need a cookware upgrade? Ozeri’s got a pan on reserve for one of my lucky readers!

Currently I’m using a mish-mash of pans I’ve collected over the years. Some of them are the black non-stick coated and some aren’t. I’ve been thinking seriously about getting rid of all the black coated ones because the coatings are starting to wear a lot and it concerns me.
